YESTERDAY AND TODAY
Monday, May 28, 2012
Last night before dark Judy and went to Jupiter park for a bit of picnic with Corey and his family. Afterwards they came over to our house and Corey and Stacey and Bailey went over to the pool for a while. I think Bailey just swam while Corey and Stacey got in the hot tub. It was pretty chilly at the park so I’m sure the hot tub felt good.
Earlier
in the day they, including Buddy their Australian Sheppard went up the Alpine
Loop to see if they could find a camping spot. All they found was at the snow
line and only unimproved spots; a fire pit dug put no cement and no picnic
table. They said it was freezing so they came back home.
At our
house last night I showed Stacey my “Jayden” journal; stuff I have been keeping
on him since he was born. I have done that for all my kids and grandkids.
After
that I pulled up the video clips I have on my computer of their family and they
laughed and laughed and played a couple of them over and over again. They
especially liked the one at Old Town Albuquerque and little Jayden and Bailey
running back and forth yelling La Cucaracha.
Monday, May 28, 2012This morning I walked to Redwood Road and back. My app kept turning off at first but when I finally got it going, it said I walked 41:46 minutes for 1.97 miles, burned 196 calories and walk an average speed of 2.8 mph. 3167 steps.
Earlier today we had sandwiches at Thanksgiving Point then saw Men in Black with Corey and family.

YOU WOULD THINK I WOULD LEARN
Tuesday, May 15, 2012
I have slept very little the last three nights. My left leg has been killing me and my right leg jerks all night. For one thing I am wondering if our bed is bad for my back.
The night before last I took 7.5 mg of Hydrocodone (generic for Lortab) a prescription pain killer, 10 MG of Cyclobenzaprine (generic for Flexeril) a prescription muscle relaxant and 800 mg of Ibuprofen. It only helped a little. All three nights I spent a lot of time in the living room doing stretching exercises and lying on my back rocking my knees back and forth from side to side. That helped a little but not enough. After the exercises I worked crossword puzzles for an hour and a half or so each night. One night I did that routine twice. I need to buy a new crossword puzzle book.
Last night I took the medication earlier in the evening and again early in the morning. Finally I got some relief.
Dummy me; today a little before noon I went for a walk. I walked through the subdivision; through the second ward to Redwood Road, north on Redwood Road to Pioneer Crossing, east to 2300 West/Saratoga Road and south to home. The last hour and the last mile and a half I was in much discomfort. A block or so from home every time I stood up straight I felt like I was going to walk backwards. I sometimes had to put my arms out for balance, to keep from falling over. As I was approaching the house my app on my phone said I was going one mile an hour.
I walked for three hours and four minutes for a distance of 7.57 miles at an average speed of 2.5 mile an hour and burned 735 calories. I took 12186 steps.
Because I have gained back a few pounds I hadn’t eaten since last night when Judy and I went out for pizza in The Ranches so I was a little weak to begin with.

and here comes Fred, limping around the corner...
Wednesday, May 09, 2012
Today instead of eating lunch, I went for a walk. I walked to the corner of 1700 West and Pioneer Crossing and back. The last half mile or so I could barely move. Yesterday I walked (or mountain climbed as I called it) around Niki’s neighborhood. We were meeting there to eat the leftover salad Judy had made for work. I got there early so I walked through her neighborhood which is on the side of the mountain in Herriman.
Yesterday I walked for 43 minutes, 1.8 miles, at an average speed of 2.5 mph and burned 180 calories. As I said, mountain climbing.
Today I walked for 2 hours and 23 minutes for a distance of 6.69 miles at an average speed of 2.7 miles per hour and burned 662 calories.
My knees are killing me.
My goal(s) now are to, if I’m going south, to walk to the entrance of Talon’s Cove Golf Course and back and if I am going north to go to Scaddie’s which is on the corner of Lehi Main Street and 1700 West.

If I go to Scaddie’s I
could stop and have a leisurely lunch before coming back home.
Me thinks that I am in no hurry to
go that distance just yet. Maybe Friday; the day after tomorrow I will just do the
same as today.

Today's Joke
A husband got in big trouble after forgetting his wedding anniversary. His wife gave him an ultimatum: "Tomorrow there better be something in the driveway for me that goes from zero to 200 in two seconds flat."
The next morning the man woke his wife, and urged her to look out the window at the driveway. She did and let out a scream when she saw what he bought her ... a bathroom scale.

TODAY'S JOKE
An aged farmer and his wife were leaning against the edge of their pig-pen when the old woman wistfully recalled that the next week would mark their golden wedding anniversary.
"Let's have a party, Homer," she suggested. "Let's kill a pig."
The farmer scratched his grizzled head. "Gee, Ethel," he finally answered, "I don't see why the pig should take the blame for something that happened fifty years ago."
