Patton is quoted as saying, “Never tell anyone how to do anything, just tell
them what needs to be done and you will be amazed at their ingenuity."
(I suppose
that might not work in every situation, but even then I wouldn’t over impose
them with too much information…my personal opinion.)
Colin Powell
said, (not an exact quote) “When things go right I give the others involved the
credit and make sure everyone knows it.” “When things go wrong I take all the
responsibility on myself and let them know it and that it wasn’t their fault.”
He has
always also given praise in the form of letters, gifts cards etc.
