GUILT TRIP

Friday, August 06, 2010 Today I am watching Jayden and Bailey because Stacey is working. Bailey set up the Monopoly game and we played awhile until silliness took over. I asked the kids to help put it away. Bailey, in a flippant tone of voice kicked the money and deed cards around and said, “It’s Grandpa’s game. He’ll take care of it.” Later Jayden came in and said. “Don’t put this on Facebook or your blog, but, my friend Trent put his Spiderman game in my PSP and it is rated “M” (for mature) which I am not allowed to play. I started playing it anyway and now I am addicted. (paraphrased) “I can’t stand the guilt. (said in a joking tone of voice, yet serious.) “Grandpa can I borrow your phone so I can tell my dad?” He took my phone, went into the other room, called Corey and came back into the room with a relieved smile on his face. Later Corey received an e-mail from Coach Snow asking if he would be Jayden’s assistant football coach. He had mixed feelings because he wanted to be able to go to Bailey’s soccer games too. I took the kids home around 2:00 p.m. so we could let Buddy out to do his thing. Later this evening when Corey got home, he announced that he was officially Jayden’s assistant coach. I’ll have to ask him about how that will affect going to Bailey’s games.

A LITTLE CURIOUS LIGHT READING

Intelligence was not created—it unfolds; no matter how backward I may be I can rejoice in my ignorance, knowing that wonderful things are awaiting my discovery. When I am honest, that is, intelligent enough to search out and dwell upon the things I do not know or in which I have been mistaken, rather than preening myself on the little I do know, surveying such latent discoveries is like a child waiting to open packages on Christmas morning. AN OLD DREAM I HAD - see date

Wednesday, April 21, 2004 - THE AFLAC DUCK I woke up this morning from the following dream. The Aflac duck called the police to report a robbery. Police: Police, how can we help you? Duck: I’ve been robbed. Police: Tell us what happened. Duck: A man took my money. Police: Did he steal your wallet? Duck: No, I was sucking on 15 cents while we were talking. We were laughing and he slapped me on the back and I swallowed it. Police: What do you want us to do? Pause, then a hiccup Duck: never mind, I found it.
