YESTERDAY at OUR HOUSE

Saturday, May 28, 2011
Yesterday afternoon some of the kids were over for dinner. Niki and Alexa and Gavin and Sierra went swimming. I got my swim suit on but Corey called. He said that Stacey was running late getting off work and would I get Jayden and Bailey after school.
When Stacey got home she changed clothes and the four of us came over in my van. That way they wouldn’t have two cars here. Corey came straight from his office.
            Jim of course was here.
Corey and I (mostly Corey) grilled steaks and chicken while Judy and Jim and whoever prepared everything else.
Greg showed up in time to eat.
For a while, Bailey, Alexa, Gavin and I danced to my oldies played through my I-pod player. I taught Alexa how to use the remote to fast forward and return to previously played tunes, so we were in a constant turmoil of back and forth. Gavin wanted to use the remote but Alexa wouldn’t relinquish it and Gavie was constantly trying to get me to get it for him. I felt caught between a rock and a hard place. After the girls were tired of dancing, Gavin got his turn and was appeased.
Sierra kept trying to get hold of her boyfriend Mark. He never responded. Finally, shortly before leaving our house Sierra learned that Mark had been in the emergency room with a migraine. It sounds like a double wammy to me. Sierra getting regular migraines and now Mark; if they get married their kids will get the tendency from both sides.
We have enough migraines in our family; my mother, me, Chris and Niki, now Sierra and Molly. Yikes!
            Chris is/was in Brazil.

OH, MY ACHING BACK

Saturday, May 28, 2011
I have been walking with a little running mixed in it since Tuesday omitting yesterday. This morning I no sooner walked out the door than my lower back tightened up and got sore. Soon one calf then the other got sore. So, I just walked for thirty-seven minutes not too fast and with no running involved.
I came home and took a muscle relaxant and half a pain pill but they leave me tired/groggy.

JAYDEN'S BROKEN ARM

Thursday, May 26, 2011
Last night, one hour into the first day of football practice, Jayden was running backwards, tripped, tried to catch himself with his hand and broke his arm; pretty much like Bailey did in basketball.
This is after Grandpa Wayne paid $190.00 for his fees and I bought him new football shoes. Only $30.00 on my part.
The last I heard he had left the InstaCare and was on the way to the emergency room at the American Fork Hospital because they were going to have to put him “out” to set the bone.
I asked him over the phone if he was going to get a pink cast. He said no.
We first found out about it as we were getting ready to leave for dinner at Olive Garden. Jayden himself told me. He sounded like he was bragging about it.
Stacey e-mailed us from her phone saying:
Two kids, two broken arms. Please don't call social services.‏ it’s good she can laugh about these things. And it has taught the kids not to take stuff like this too seriously though they can be drama queens about some things.
I just talked to Corey on the phone. He said they gave Jayden an IV and morphine then put him “out” while they set the bone.
They warned them that even though he is “under”, he will still kick around from the pain. Corey said that he was yelling out “ow, ow”. They weren’t expecting the vocal part. He was under for about five minutes and can’t remember any part of it; thankfully I guess.

At least he will have something to show off at school the last few days.

Stacey sent me the following, ala my request:
Ok I sent some pics if you want.
The story goes like this, Jayden’s love for sports started pretty much the day he was born, and the need to be competitive started the day his sister Bailey was born. They have to best each other at everything including injuries; Bailey broke her arm a few months ago. Since that happened Jayden has been joking around saying "now I need to brake my arm" of course we laugh at his jokes and tell him "be careful what you wish for, it just might come true" Jayden has been talking about football for the whole year he couldn’t wait for it, nether could Corey, then finally it arrived, football camp, he put his new cleats on and ran out the door, was so excited to get there and see his coach and team mates. He eagerly ran out, said hi to everyone and grabbed a football. An hour of what they call fun past then they threw the ball to Jayden, Jayden ran backwards to catch it (they call it back pedaling) next thing he knew he was down. He only teared up for a second. Corey then called me. I called him a liar cause we had just gone through this with Bailey. Corey told me to meet him at the InstaCare. From there they called Baileys Dr. Baileys Dr told us to take him to the ER in American Fork, there we waited for the Dr to show up, when he did he told me the mesa they have to use could stop his breathing, I of course went in to Mom mode and started to cry and panic only a little bit, we ask the nurse if we could have a minute alone with Jayden so Corey could give him a fathers blessing. She of course said yes, this made me feel a little bit better. Then the nurse came in and told me that she does this 2 or 3 times a shift and never once has anything gone wrong. So the time came; they put him out and fixed the arm. Now they told me he wouldn't feel anything but his body would suggest otherwise. He started to kick the walls and moan in pain while they fixed it. They had to hold his legs down. It was not easy to watch.

Then it was over, and they sent us home. The coach called Jayden and told him he could still be part of the team doing what he could and helping out, this of course made Jayden very happy but still a little sad since we are not sure if he will be able to play in any games. All we can do is wait and see.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to YOU!

Monday, May 23, 2011

I don’t know if you read my first entry Sunday  but I had a panic/anxiety attack in choir practice just before church and came home took a panic pill and went to bed. Well this morning I had another one though not as sever. I took the pill at the onset and lay down.
Every time I got up feeling, as I thought, a little better, the effects of the pill would hit me and I would lie back down in short order.
Finally Judy called and reminded me it was time for Gavin’s birthday party at Bouncing Off The Walls in Sandy (or however it is worded.) It was time to get up anyway so off I went, present in toe.
When I walked in the door, someone yelled out, “Grandpa.”
It wasn’t one of my grandchildren.
It was the little boy that was playing with Gavin when I visited their house not too long ago. He was still wearing a cape and still going by the name of Superman. I can’t remember his real name…Matt?
He and Gavin were all over me for five minutes or so. Superman even had me put his cape back on him instead of letting his father do it.
Alexa was busy with her friends.
I can’t believe how big she is and barely five.
It was a party for both Alexa and Gavin with all their neighbor friends and younger cousins. First Alexa opened her gifts then it was Gavie’s turn.
Niki was wearing an orange (I think) maternity top and looking a lot better than the last time I saw her in the hospital with a migraine and them not being able to do much about it because of the baby in her tummy!

ISABEL AND JAYDEN and cookies

  Sunday, May 22, 2011
Friday Corey called their house phone. Bailey I guess, picked it up. Corey asked to speak with me (first). He told me that he was going to ground Jayden for a month and went on to tell the following story; the best I remember it.
Jayden has a classmate both in school and in church that he can’t stand. Her name is Isabel. (sp) She, according to Jayden, drives him nuts. He hates/hated her. (After this I hope he is seeing her through different eyes.)
It got to whenever she would get near him in school, he would call out something about "Isabelitis."
Some of the other boys caught on and started saying the same thing and one boy, I forgot his name, started saying, “Isabel kisses girls on the mouth.”
I think there were other things said too.
Anyway, Corey wanted me to be aware of what was going on and be prepared when Jayden went nuts about the grounding.
Corey had gotten a call from Stacey.
I put Jayden on the line and Corey started talking. Jayden took it better than I was afraid he would but he was not happy when Corey accused him of doing all the things. At the time it was believed it was just Jayden…but it was him who got the ball rolling.
Stacey who heard about it first wanted him grounded from football for the summer.
Following is the e-mail Stacey sent at my request telling the story as she saw it.
"Ok, so the story goes like this, Jayden and Isabel do not like each other they never have. They just don't get along, so me and Isabel' s mom have been telling them both for three years now to just stay away from each other, well I guess they couldn't take it any more Jayden started a thing called Isabel-itis whenever Isabel would come near Jayden or touch something Jayden would yell "Isabelitis" out to the class. I guess she couldn't take it anymore she has been going home in tears. Her mother finally called and told me what was going on, needless to say I was so mad I wanted to ground him for a month luckily I was at work and had time to cool off, by the time I had gotten home Corey had made a plan. He made Jayden make Isabel cookies and was getting him ready to go over and say sorry to her and her parents. So we went over to do the deed and it was not easy for Jayden to do this, but it needed to be done. After it was done I turned to Isabel told her I loved her gave her a hug and told her that when boys come into this world they're not completely put together and that I was still working on him. She laughed hugged me back and we left. Hopefully we won't have any more issues. But we probably will. (Hopefully that’s what you’re looking for Fred) you can put this on your blog if you want."
Stacey had said earlier that Isabel’s mother wasn’t there when they took the cookies to their house and that Jayden was going to apologize to “her” in church today.
Stacey also said that both Isabel and Jayden were red-faced and looking at the ground but that after Jayden apologized, Isabel said, “Thank you Jayden for apologizing.”

WEIRD COUPLE of DAYS

Sunday, May 22, 2011

I had a panic/anxiety attack in choir practice just before church today. Thankfully I had been diagnosed with it recently and have medication for it. I walked home…slowly…took my medication and went to bed. It is supposedly, supposed to put me to sleep for hours.
I was able to sleep a couple of hours after a bit but not like I thought it was supposed to.

I have another story to tell.
Friday, I think it was, I was sitting quietly when I thought I realized/saw/felt that there were three of me or parts of my mind, one is on my right frontal lobe, one is the left frontal lobe and a smaller one in the middle above the other two. That one seemed inferior but at the moment "in charge." But, I had the feeling that it was in charge with the permission of the other two.
I started thinking that the right frontal lobe part of me was perhaps the introverted inferiority part of "me."
The left frontal lobe part of me is the opposite, the extroverted "me."
The smaller one is/was a balance between the two.
Today after coming home from church and lying in bed after my "attack", I thought/felt that the right introverted part was forefront and in charge. I started thinking also "You know what, that is the part that is dominant when I am having a migraine too."

NIKI

Friday, 20 May, 2011
Wednesday afternoon, Judy called and asked me where I was. I told her I was just pulling into home. She said "Go to Niki's" and went on to explain that Niki is having a bad migraine and needed my help.
When I was part way there Niki called me. She was bawling, the pain and upset stomach was so bad. She said she wanted me to take her to the InstaCare that is attached to the Riverton Hospital.
When I walked into her house she was throwing up in the toilet.
She got in my van and off we went; not fast enough for her I'm sure.
Because she is eight weeks along, there wasn't a whole they could do. They gave her an IV and injected it with something to stop the nausea. They put on oxygen, they said it should help her relax. They said that after the nausea medicine was working they would give her some Tylenol.
The IV made her cold. They were out of blankets so they covered her with two sheets. That wasn't good enough so they put on two more. Finally they got two heated sheets, placed them next to her body and Greg and I put the other four on top of them.
Greg was voice in giving her a blessing and she stopped shaking immediately.
When we were driving to the hospital, she was bawling and thrashing her arms about.
Greg called me before he arrived to check up on her. Alexa was in the background yelling, "Grandpa, it's my birthday, Grandpa, it's my birthday, Grandpa, it's my birthday."
She didn't understand the severity of the situation.
Lynn, Greg's mother met him at the hospital and took the kids home with her.
After Niki was calm and relaxed, she and Greg sent me home.
